Sick kids

I came down with a cold over the weekend and passed it along to my kiddies. So I've had sad little babies the past few days. I haven't been up to taking lots of photos. And of course, I have no fun stories to share.

Here are a couple of tidbits:

After spending most of yesterday watching TV instead of enjoying the beautiful weather outside, I decided Michaela deserved a bit of fun. So I told her I would make her play-dough to use with the new baking toys I had bought for her. Except that I forgot it would be hot from cooking it and she was pretty upset when I then said she couldn't play with it for a while.

So I found a recipe for a no-bake oatmeal dough that she LOVED:

It was pretty messy, but we were able to make a couple of "cookies" for the dogs, which she thought was awesome.

Recipe:
1 part water
1 part flour
2 parts oats

She also got a popsicle for eating all her dinner. Her favorite way to end the day.

It might look like its the size of her head, but its not really. Its a little bit smaller :-)

Today, someone really enjoyed the novelty of PB&J, hadn't made one of those in a while:

Today was also Day 2 of what I'm calling "Tag-team Mommy". Day 1 entailed serving up Matthew's lunch but then being distracted by something Michaela needed help with. I put the bowl of pureed veggies on the table, not on the high chair, but when I came back.... veggie mush all over the carpet! (How the people who built our house could decide a carpeted dining area was a smart move will always astound me...) That kid can REACH!

You would think I would be a smarter and wiser mommy by Day 2... they did the exact same thing. AND SO DID I! And the result was food all over carpet and two dining chairs, which are upholstered, of course. Someone looked really pleased with the results:

After a trip to the doc's where they are always running late, and a visit to Vovo (Dave's mum), it was too late for Michaela's nap. Not that I didn't try. She ended up biking around the hood in her naptime diaper instead. I think we were both too tired to care!
