Matty's First Easter

I have had a sinus infection for what feels like eons now... probably heading into Day 7. So I haven't been doing a good job of anything lately. Easter shopping was a last minute run-and-grab whatever I could find the day before. And then Aunt Sheri showed up with Easter baskets that put the Bunny's to shame (I am going to have to lift my game next year!)

Running late for mass on Sunday, we weren't able to get a seat in the church so we had to sit outside in the freezing cold wind. Of course we were underdressed. And my hair was wet. But we survived.

I decided we needed a nice dinner to redeem the day since I woke up DEVASTATED to find that all of my hot cross buns had been eaten and I was SO looking forward to having one for my Easter breakky (its the little things, right??) I decided on chicken and veges. I had chicken, potatoes, pumpkin and carrots in the oven and broccoli on the stove when I decided Michaela should decorate some eggs. Since eggs are brown here and they don't sell dyes, it was a creative endeavour.
Note I could not find her paintbrush so settled for the only other one I could find. These are some classy eggs.

Meanwhile, dinner nearly burnt the house down. So Michaela ended up having tinned spaghetti and I had a frozen dinner. Dave put on a brave face and ate some of the blackened food. And the house was a MESS. I ate alot of chocolate that day.

Here are our finished eggs:

It was only today that I realised I didn't even get a photo of Matt on his first Easter. He looked so cute in his collared shirt too. And Michaela had a beautiful white dress.

Oh well. Next Easter: spend more than 5 min on baskets, plan meals the day before, buy paintbrushes and remember to take some photos!!

Michaela's coloring book

Just had a flick through Michaela's coloring book before getting ready for bed, and was pretty impressed by what I saw:
She was using the "right" colors, if that makes sense. Not that she can stay in the lines or anything, but she apparently takes her Tinkerbell very seriously. Tinkerbell was only colored wearing green, red fairies in red, blue in blue, etc. It was really cute. This was the first time I'd looked at the pictures she'd done, and it just made me smile. I guess every time your kid does something new it warms your heart, even when its just as simple as choosing the colors for her fairies.
(By the way, I have watched the Tinkerbell movies enough times to tell you every color of every fairy, not to mention sing every song, which is often requested in this house!)
